Theme: Empowering Our Communities – Protecting Minorities & the Most Vulnerable

Event Description: The NCD and Mental Health Campaign is one of the voluntary initiatives led by Dr Prajjwal Pyakurel in one of the urbanized communities in Sarswatinagar, Kathmandu, Nepal. This initiative is organized once a month in the Sarswatinagar community. This is done in collaboration with the local subunit and the local fitness club. In this initiative, we walk for 1 hour, followed by 1 hour of lectures on various topics related to NCDs and mental health. This program has been running for one year.

Event Description: As part of the World Federation of Public Health Associations’ (WFPHA) Global Public Health Week, ASPPH will host a webinar dedicated to student engagement in climate change and its intersection with public health. Theme: Tackling the Climate Crisis

Event Description: The Europe region of World Physiotherapy has been striving as part of its strategic to uphold and enhance sustainable health care. During this webinar there will be an overview of the methods used and also on how this European organisation is promoting these practices to its members organisations and physiotherapists practising in the EU and globally. A webinar will be held in line with the theme “Tackling the Climate Crisis” with the title of session being “Physiotherapy for Sustainable Healthcare”. The primary obejctive of this webinary is that participants will learn further on how physiotherapy services are a better option to address climate crisis, which approach is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals Agenda 2030. The webinar will be 1.5 hours long and the plan is as follows: A welcome note will be held by the Chairperson of the Europe region of World Physiotherapy (10 minutes) then Speaker 1, Annie Palstam from Sweden will be presenting a 20 minutes overview on “The role of Physiotherapy for Sustainable Healthcare” followed by Speaker 2, Loredana Gigli from Italy who will be presenting a 20 mins overview on the document of the Europe region of World Physiotherapy titled “Harmonisation of Sustainable Development Goals Within the Physiotherapy Profession”. The rest of the session will be moderated by Maria-Louisa Busuttil from Malta who will be facilitating a debate of 35 minutes where participants will be provided with the change to interact, and the primary focus of this debate will be on the cultural change that healthcare needs to implement to address the Climate Crisis. The concluding remarks will consist of recommendations that will merge throughout this session which will be presented by the moderator of the debate.

Theme: Tackling the Climate Crisis

Event Description: This event will firstly examine sustainability, the impact of dentistry on planetary health and ask how we as dental professionals can embed sustainability into the modern delivery of dentistry. Secondly, we will examine the sustainability of health care systems, particularly in the most marginalized areas of the world, asking how we can create a sustainable system of care when infrastructure and workforce capacity is suboptimal? How can we overcome significant financial and social barriers to accessing oral health care worldwide?

The event invites all dental and healthcare students and professionals to start a journey producing concrete actions locally to make oral health sustainable. We hope to catalyze our young professionals to take the next steps towards enacting change.

Event Description: The event is organized in collaboration with the Planetary Health Alliance. There will be two keynote speakers: Prof. Fusar Poli and Prof. Odone. Prof. Fusar Poli, Psychiatrist, Professor of Preventive Psychiatry at King’s College London, Associate Professor of Psychiatry at University of Pavia, will focus on “the impact of climate change on global mental health”, while Prof. Odone, Full Professor of Hygiene and Preventive Medicine, President of the Digital Health Section at the European Public Health Association, will discuss the importance of a preventive approach to the issue.
