Professor at the Federal University of Bahia, Prof De Sousa has a degree in Medicine, a Master’s degree in Community Health and a Doctorate in Public Health from the University of Montreal. In addition to his academic activities, he has assumed important political and managerial positions including being the Director General of the Science and Technology Department of the Ministry of Health. He has been a leading member of the Brazilian Association of Collective Health (Abrasco). He is the current President of the World Federation of Public Health Associations.

Director of ManuKahu Associates, Indigenous Consultancy in Aoteroa New Zealand, Emma is a Researcher/Trainer and Facilitator. Emma has a Master of Philosophy with Honors (First Class). Emma specialises in addressing Institutional Racism using Indigenous frameworks for public health. Emma currently consults to the New Zealand Human Rights Commission and develops training and frameworks for developing culturally responsive public health approaches and socially/culturally conscious business strategy and organisational development based on Indigenous knowledge. Emma is soon to take up the position of Public Health Equity Lead at Whakauae Research Services based in Whanganui and will be pursuing her doctorate study investigating and developing a global framework for transformational public health to eradicate inequities, founded on Indigneous knowledges and values, and Human Rights. She is the current Vice-President of the World Federation of Public Health Associations.

President of the Mission Board for Cancer of the European Commission, he is also Coordinator of the Scientific Advisory Board of Human Technopole Foundation. He is the current Immediate Past President of the World Federation of Public Health Associations.
Dr. George Amofah
Ghana Public Health Association
Dr. Amofah is a public health consultant with extensive expertise covering health systems strengthening, health policy and service delivery, monitoring and evaluation of health services, epidemiology and disease control. He was the Deputy Director General of Ghana Health Service, Vice-President of the Ghana Public Health Association and the Chairman of the Geneva-based global Roll Back Malaria Partnership Board. He represents the African region on the WFPHA Governing Council.
Dr. Deogratias Sekimpi
Uganda National Association of Community and Occupational Health
Dr. Deogratias Sekimpi has been a public health specialist for over 40 years and has been in Uganda National Association of Community and Occupational Health (UNACOH) leadership since 1987. He was a founder member, Secretary General, President and he is currently its Acting Executive Director. He has led various advocacy, public awareness, research, training and health development projects and programs of UNACOH. He represents the African region on the WFPHA Governing Council.
Dr. Georges Benjamin
American Public Health Association
As the Executive Director of the American Public Health Association, Dr. Benjamin has provided strong leadership and strategic direction to the organization. Dr. Benjamin is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in policy and management at all levels of government. Dr. Benjamin is a nationally recognized public health leader who has led state and local level public healthcare systems. He represents the Americas region on the WFPHA Governing Council.
Dr. Jesus Gonzalez
Mexican Society of Public Health
Dr. Gonzalez is a surgeon from the Faculty of Medicine of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He studied for a Master’s Degree in Public Administration at the Economic Research and Teaching Center (ClDE). He also has a Master’s Degree in Hospital Management from the University of Alcala de Henares in Spain. He is a specialist in Public Health certified by the National Council of Public Health. He represents the Americas region on the WFPHA Governing Council.
Dr. Xiaofeng Liang
Chinese Preventive Medicine Association
Dr. Liang is the Executive Vice President and Secretary General of the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association. Previously Director of the National Immunisation Programme and Deputy Director and standing member of the Party Committee of China CDC, he has been a committee member of the SAGE group. He currently represents the Asia-Pacific region on the WFPHA Governing Council.
Dr. Tarun Weeramanthri
Public Health Association of Australia
Tarun Weeramanthri is President of the Public Health Association of Australia and an adjunct professor in the School of Population and Global Health at the University of Western Australia. He is a trained specialist in internal medicine and public health, and has a PhD in social medicine. He has extensive experience in disaster and emergency preparedness and response. He represents the West Pacific region on the WFPHA Governing Council.
Dr. Isabelle Nicoulet
French Public Health Society
Dr. Nicoulet is Head of Department, in charge of preventing and screening infectious diseases in the Seine Saint Denis district. She is a member of the research team on « Education, Ethic, Health » collaboration between General Practitioner medicine, Public Health and Education and Training. She represents the European region on the WFPHA Governing Council.
Dr. Geir Sverre Braut
Norwegian Public Health Association
Dr. Braut is a medical practitioner who specialises in community medicine. He has been Deputy Chief county medical officer and Deputy Director General at the Norwegian Board of Health Supervision. Since 2014 he has been working as Senior Advisor at the Department of research at Stavanger University Hospital and Professor at University of Stavanger and Western Norway University College. His main areas of research concern societal safety, community risk mitigation and emergency preparedness and interinstitutional collaboration. He is currently representing the European region on the WFPHA Governing Council.
Dr. Stefan Buttigieg
Malta Public Health Association
Dr. Buttigieg is a Specialist in Public Health Medicine with a deep interest in Clinical Informatics, Social Media and Digital Health. He currently lectures at the University of Malta Faculty of Health Sciences on the topics of Digital Health and Social Media in Healthcare. He is the Vice-President of the EUPHA Section on Digital Health. He currently represents the Students and Young professionals on the WFPHA Governing Council.
