Event Description: La Sociedad Cubana de Salud Pública (SOCUSAP) y la Alianza de Asociaciones de Salud Pública de las Américas (AASPA), en correspondencia con la iniciativa de la Federación Mundial de Asociaciones de Salud Pública (WFPHA por sus siglas en ingles) para la celebración de “La Semana Mundial de la Salud Pública”, tienen el gusto de invitarle a que nos acompañe en el evento que se celebrará desde el lunes 4 hasta el viernes 8 de abril, con el tema “La salud pública importa: construyendo el nuevo futuro”. Este evento tiene como objetivo reunir a instituciones, comunidades y actores de la salud pública para reconocer sus contribuciones.

Event Description: Dr Jesse Bell, Director of Environmental, Agricultural, and Occupational Health at the University of Nebraska Medical Center will discuss extreme weather hazards, focusing upon how climate change increases the risk of such events, the health threats to patients, how the risk varies amongst different communities, and the roles of disaster risk reduction, public health communication, and regional cooperation in the prevention of health impacts created by extreme weather events.

Event Description: Striving for equity is one of key issues of the World Health Organization as part of the Sustainable Development Goals and of the mission of the European Forum for Primary Care. Health inequity refers to differences in health that are not only unnecessary and avoidable but are also unfair and unjust. A strong Primary Care system, providing person centered care, integrated with public health and social care, is known to significantly improve populations’ health and reduce inequity.

How Is Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF) Transforming Dental Caries Programs?

Event Description: Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF) is an effective preventative treatment in the community setting. Evidence supports the potential of SDF in arresting caries in the primary dentition and permanent first molars. As caries remain a major public health concern globally, we advocate for the use of SDF in the treatment of dental caries especially for children, the elderly and patients with special needs.

This event will discuss the public health benefits of using SDF in community dental programmes.
