Event Description: The South African Learning Alliance District Health Systems (SALAD) together with the Public Health Association of South Africa (PHASA) will be hosting a webinar titled ‘What is the District Health System (DHS) and how has it evolved in South Africa?’ It provides a historical account of the DHS in South Africa, detailing key milestones since its inception, culminating in a discussion on the value of the DHS in light of current health reforms. This is an introductory webinar on the DHS and will be followed by other webinars (to be hosted through SALAD) that explore various themes and sub-themes related to DHS features.
Oral contributions will be made by a combination of health managers and academics. The webinar is open to all, however, it will be most beneficial to the following audiences: health district and sub-district managers, provincial/national directors, health academics and researchers, emerging public health practitioners, and those working within NGOs or civil society.
