On Tuesday, January 12, 2010, a 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck the impoverished nation of Haiti. WFPHA and its member associations, pray for those whose lives have been lost as a result of this catastrophe and send a message of solidarity to the Haitian people. We urge all to do what they can to assist, however, financial contributions are strongly recommended to reach aid organizations more quickly. WFPHA also calls on experienced public health professionals with expertise in disasters and humanitarian assistance, to volunteer their time and join international corps such as the Red Cross, Médecins Sans Frontieres, or their countries’ national aid corps, to assist with the relief and recovery efforts.
We recommend that you liaise with your local organizations or agencies to see how donations can be made. Below is a list of some of the organizations currently working in Haiti.
